Run the Risk - Lori Foster Blog Tour
WOW is all I have to say when it comes to anything Lori Foster. I was pumped when I was asked to be a stop on the BookTrib Blog tour for Lori Foster's new book Run the Risk. First before we begin, here is a little bit about the book, the author and all the info you need in order to buy the book.
RUN THE RISK by Lori Foster
A police detective goes undercover to investigate a murder, and his target is a mousy young lady he believes is the link he needs to solve the case. But little does he know that his plain-Jane suspect has her own secrets that will turn his case head over heels before it’s over.
Folks, pay attention. If you are like me and LOVE series books, Run the Risk is the FIRST book in her brand-new original series. Woot Woot! How exciting is THAT?
When handsome construction worker Logan Riske moves next door to the dowdy young Pepper Yates, she can’t believe her luck. Her new beau has everything she wants in a guy—looks, charm, style. He also has one thing she doesn't even suspect—a badge.
Logan is really an undercover cop investigating the homicide of his best friend and he’s sure that the shy, introverted Pepper is concealing the whereabouts of her eyewitness brother, Rowdy. Logan needs Rowdy’s testimony to bring crime boss Morton Andrews to justice for the murder, and he’ll go to any lengths to obtain it—even seducing Rowdy’s wallflower sister.
The longer Logan’s seductive charade goes on, however, the more he starts to see through Pepper’s drab exterior to the true beauty beneath. Despite all his training, Logan can’t stop himself from falling for Pepper. But to warn her now will cost him any chance of trapping her brother and bringing his friend’s killer to justice. Like it or not, Logan’s going to see this masquerade through to the end, even if it costs him what he now values most—Pepper.
But Pepper Yates is no one’s fool. She and her brother have managed to survive on the run by trusting no one, especially a flirtatious neighbor with romantic intentions. Despite her undeniable attraction to Logan, Pepper isn't about to risk her brother’s life by falling prey to her passions.
But no matter what she does, it may be too late. Rowdy is already caught in the killer’s cross-hairs and Pepper knows it’s up to her to do whatever it takes to save him no matter who stands in her way…even Logan.
Since first publishing in January 1996, Lori Foster has become a Waldenbooks, Borders, USA TODAY, Publishers Weekly and New York Times bestselling author.
Lori believes it’s important to give back to the community as much as possible, so she routinely arranges events among authors and readers to gather donations for various organizations.
I am psyched to tell you that I was asked to do a little Q&A about Run the Risk with Lori Foster, so without making you wait any longer (I know the suspense is killing you), here we go ...
1. If you had to choose, which writer would you consider a mentor?
Stella Cameron. You’ll never meet a nicer, more grounded, generous and talented author. Back before I’d ever gotten published, I was a huge fan. (I'm STILL a huge fan.) I was green and nervous and unpublished when I met Stella in person and wow, she was so incredibly kind to me. That first meeting is something I will never, ever forget, because she had such an amazing impact on me. I love her for what she gave to me: encouragement, confidence, and her wisdom. I seriously doubt I’d be where I am today if it weren't for Stella. Still, when I need advice, I go to Stella. She's never steered me wrong. To this day, whenever I do a favor for a new writer, I always think of the example she set and how fortunate I feel to be able to pay it forward. She will always remain a most cherished friend.
2. Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest?
Yes! Macy Beckett has SULTRY WITH A TWIST coming out in October, and it’s amazing. I got to do an early read, and loved it. Now I’m waiting for the 2nd book! If you like small town charm with Alpha heroes and fun heroines, amusing dialogue and steamy romance, trust me, you’ll love this one!
3. What can we expect from this new series?
Lots of action. Lots of steam. Related books, but each one will stand alone. A little suspense, a few laughs. I hope readers can expect unique characters and new plots but with the same elements usually found in books, the parts that readers enjoy.
4. Name one entity that you feel supported you outside of family members.
My good friend Duffy Brown. She and I started writing around the same time, and I can’t even tell you the number of phone calls we've had to commiserate, sound off on a plot glitch, laugh or curse. Duffy has let me vent many times, encouraged me when I needed it, and celebrated all the industry stuff that family sometimes doesn't “get.” She’s a fabulous author, and a very dear friend.
As I wrap up this post, I would like to thank everyone who has stopped by my page to read more about Lori and Run the Risk.
