My Review:

My first though on this book was "If I get the opportunity to push the sale of any book, this is the book I would choose, for the simple fact that we need to be educated in cyber terrorism." A thought provoking thriller, Zero Day is by far one of the most exciting yet terrifying books I have ever read. In our generation, there is no where you can look that is not controlled by computers in some capacity. Just think about it for a minute. Online banking, your power at home, the airplane that you take to reach your destination and even your check out at the grocery store, these are all reliant on computers. Now try to imagine a virus attacking any one of those industries and your world would be turned upside down. Zero Day is a book that addresses those issues and expounds on that by painting a vivid picture of what can happen should one of these industries come under attack. The public needs to become educated and aware of the fact that cyber terrorism does exist and CAN happen to them.

I am currently a programming student in college and one of the areas we study is internet security. Just about everything we studied in class is included in this book. I've told my instructors that this book needs to be required reading because it not only shows you the magnitude of destruction that viruses can cause but it helped me to better understand what I learned in class. When I read this book, it was almost as though it were in two parts. The first part of the book concentrated on the technical computer side and the second part where most of the action was found in the book. Believe me when I tell you that there is a lot of action throughout the book and that it was nearly impossible to put this book down.

I felt a connection right away with Jeff Aiken's character. Previously working with the government, Jeff tries to bring attention to the links between all the disasters taking place and the recent virus outbreaks. He's met with red tape throughout the book and I couldn't help but feel helpless right along with him. Jeff has closed himself off from forming relationships with anyone and finds himself attracted to Daryl, his female counterpart who happens to work for the government. Watching Jeff and Daryl work side by side while their relationship grows stronger, was a breath of fresh air. I found myself rooting for their relationship to flourish beyond friendship. While the focus stays on cyber terrorism, romance between these two is intricately woven into the story. There are some surprises with Jeff's co-workers that you won't see coming. I loved to be shocked and Mr. Russinovich does just that very well I might add. The action in this book is remarkable. Painting vivid pictures of the level of greed humans go to, the reader is transported into a very dark world.

Zero Day is the debut novel for author Mark Russinovich who is a cyber security expert with Microsoft. A well researched and highly developed book, Zero Day is a must read for everyone who is dependent on the internet in any form. The book does get technical quite often but Russinovich does an excellent job of explaining what he's talking about. Everyone needs to be made aware of the potential of a threat of global proportions and even though this is a fictional story, it can easily become reality. Zero Day is an addictive read that will stay with you for a long time to come. It is a MUST READ!

Review:

Every once in a while you get a book that really touches your heart. Hide and Seek was that book for me. Although the relationship between Rob and Maddie wasn't perfect, it was a moving and powerful read. Maddie was a strong and confident woman who did what she needed to do in order to take care of her life. This is the part where it gets hard not to throw a spoiler in. From the moment that Maddie leaves her former life, the plot line takes off. There are so many twists and turns and I was up late into the night just waiting to see what happened next. Rob and Maddie had intense feelings of love but of course there was conflict in the form of an unpleasant ex and misunderstandings. Sophie's character gripped my heart and didn't let go. She seemed so grown up for her age and because of that, some of her reactions just made me laugh out loud.

Rob's character had me scratching my head sometimes, but watching him grow into the man he was meant to be made it all worthwhile.

Ms. Hill is one of my favorite authors and I'm reminded of that each time I read one of her books. She has a talent for taking the reader on a journey with unforgettable characters while developing a plot line that is highly entertaining. Hide and Seek is a very addicting read and I strongly urge you to pick it up the minute you get the chance.

A few seconds after the hand-job, she tucked him in his pants and redressed quietly. He stared at her in disbelief. “You are most definitely a tease.”

“No, Edward. I'm not,” she assured him, adjusting her simple sleeves.

'Then do you mind telling me why you didn't finish what you started?”

“Of course not,” she said, crossing one long leg over the other. “Lesson number one is just for you, Edward. You may have a whore in your lap, with your cock in her cheek, but you never, ever make the implication you believe she's old, used and cheap.”

“I made you feel that way?”

She tilted her head down and with wide eyes, she confirmed it. “Yes you did, Edward.”

She smiled, placed her hands in her lap and looked straight ahead. When they pulled into the parking lot of the towers where Edward lived, she said, “And you suggested I may have been out of practice which was a direct slam to my age.”

“It wasn't.”

“It was, Edward,” she said, pushing her hair over her shoulders. She tilted her head toward the driver approaching them. “Try not to act like a scorned lover when you get out of the car. Remember, he can't see me. I've learned from experience those employees closest to you are the first to run their mouths when things begin to spiral out of control. The last thing you need is your driver telling a reporter you've lost it.”

The limousine driver opened the door. Edward stepped out. He was brewing. Not only did he have a hard-on, he had a complicated woman to credit and blame. Not only did he have someone to blame, he couldn't publicly point an accusing finger her way.

“Did you have a nice dinner, sir?” the driver asked, trying to make small talk while Edward retrieved his wallet.

“We did,” he reported. “Thank you.”

The driver accepted his tip and arched a brow. “Did you meet friends while you were out?”

Heidi studied her fingernails. “You didn't listen.”

“How the hell was I supposed to listen when I'm standing here with blue balls?”

“I beg your pardon, sir?” the driver fired back.

She was gone in a flash and Edward wished he could disappear just as rapidly.

Ask anyone who knows me and they will tell you that I am an avid reader and reviewer. I am always reviewing something. Well, this is the first day of 2011 and I made myself one promise. The very first book I read in the New Year is going to be for me. So going through the thousands (not an exaggeration) of books I had, I picked a book that had already been reviewed on our review site, You Gotta Read Reviews, thus guaranteeing that I wouldn't write a review. This book happened to be from one of my favorite authors of all time, Debbie Gould.
Please, how can I possible NOT do a review on a book that is as exceptional as this?

I fell in love with her work when I first read Mountain's Echo (Book one) and then Infidelity (Book 2). It might have been the other way around, I can't really remember but what I took from it was the love of a new author. I am anxious to read Betrayal (Book 3) and Sins of the Mind (Book 4). This review is on November Rain (Book 5). It doesn't matter what book you pick up and in what order, you are guaranteed an action packed and sensual read. If you'd like to check out her site, here is the link to her site. While you are there, check out her blog. Debbie Gould is one of the funniest authors I know and I chuckle each time I read her blog. With all of that being said, here is the review for Book 5, November Rain. Even though I promised myself that I wouldn't review it, it's on my personal review blog so it doesn't count as me reviewing it. I like to look at it as verbalizing my thoughts and sharing it with my web wide friends. ;)

Review:
With the world we live in today, this is a book that NEEDS to be read. Detailing the reactions of Tyler and Jessica, who are dealing with being separated due to war, this book really hits home. The descriptive scenes in November Rain brings the seriousness of war to life. Tyler and Jessica have that once in a lifetime kind of love that we all hope we can experience at some point in our lives. Throughout the story the strong bond between these two is evident. I don't want to give too much of this story away but when you read Tyler's email to Jessica about a piece of important news, you will know what I mean. I teared up myself and I'm just the reader. The one part I loved about this book was the dream connection that Tyler and Jessica had. While the main story in the book almost took your breath away, any fear was eased when they were able to communicate through their dreams.

Ms. Gould writes with such intensity and knowledge of military life. A strong writer can always make their reader feel what the character is feeling. Ms. Gould does this and so much more. Usually I would say which book I love most from a particular author, but it is impossible when we're talking about Debbie Gould. Each book is just as good as the book before. I strongly suggest that you buy this book and I'll even give you the link to where you can buy it. It's from Red Rose Publishing and the ebook is even on sale right now at only $1.50. Review:
Oh my my, where to start on this review? How about the cover? Steamy huh? Ok, now on to the book. When a strong blizzard bounds Julie to her home, what more can a girl ask for than two cowboys who are what the definition of hotness is all about? This was one seriously hot book. The banter between Quinn and Blake (total opposites in the women department) had me laughing out loud. Julie's character knew how to hold her own with these two cowboys, even if they did give her goosebumps. Heck, even I got goosebumps. This book did make me tear up and you'll know the part I'm talking about when you read it. I can't give it away, but it was a scene that was very well written and evokes a strong emotion in the reader. The neighbor had me giggling with his grumpy attitude and the way Julie responded was seriously comical. There were so many things that drew me into this book. Yes, of course the yummy men, but also the humor of it all as well as the loyalty Brandon and Quinn showed toward Julie.

Ms. Blaine is one of my favorite authors and books like Cowboys for Christmas proves why. This is one author who can craft a well rounded book packed full with action and romance and leave you amazed at how she did so in such a short amount of pages . Ms. Blaine has a way of writing complex characters that you just can't help but fall in love with. As for writing steamy love scenes, I don't know of an author who can write it any better than Ms. Blaine. I strongly urge you to read this book. It's a shorter book at only 85 pages that will curb you desire to read a very sensual and entertaining book.

Family Secrets by Jamie Hill

Review:
Ms. Hill is a genius! Family Secrets is the first book in the series followed by Family Ties. I had reviewed Family Ties (outstanding book), so I wanted to go back and read the first book in the series. This book is truly one of the best I've read in 2010. Crystal's character was less than perfect and I fell in love with her immediately. Sassy and brassy, this lady could hold her own. Jack's character was the kind of gentleman every reader wants as their hero. He was fiercely protective of Crystal and her unplanned little family. He won my heart right away. The plot line was AMAZING. It was action packed and kept me on the edge of my seat almost the entire time. It amazes me how Ms. Hill can fit in so much action, romance and just about every emotion under the sun, into a book that is only 138 pages long. Ms. Hill has become a favorite author of mine and I consider her to be an automatic add to my "to be read list". If you are a serious suspense loving reader who loves to form bonds with the characters, this is definitely the book for you! I loved it and can't wait to read more of Ms. Hill's books, she has the gift of knowing what the reader wants and then hitting you with an ending you certainly don't expect. Two thumbs up!

Family Ties by Jamie Hill

Review:

The passion between Gina and Brady sparks the moment they meet. Brady Marshall is a full on hottie whose character is multidimensional. I almost feel like he grows into the man he is meant to be when he meets his match in Gina. Gina is not your ordinary woman. She's not the type to get jealous if her man looks at someone else which could easily happen given her line of work. The way that Brady and Gina relate to each other just makes you want to sigh and say "Aw, how romantic is that?" These two have the passionate relationship I love to see in my hero and heroine.

One thing I loved about this book was since Gina is Italian, she would throw Italian words around and then have to translate to Brady what she had just said. After a while, he grew accustomed to certain words. On top of that, Brady's partner is also Italian. I am thrilled when I read a book and am not simply entertained but learn something along the way as well. It's always an added bonus.

Family Ties started out with a bang and kept me on my toes throughout the entire book. I must say that Family Ties is a little bit different than other books because of who you think is the bad guy is and how things are wrapped up in the end. I'm not going to drop any spoilers but I will simply say that you have to read this book. The ending has a twist you won't expect.

Ms. Hill did an outstanding job with the plotline, and I was literally biting my nails the entire time I was reading. There is one thing that Ms. Hill did and that was keep me awake at night. I couldn't put this fast paced, action packed book down. I HAD to find out what happened next. It was addicting. Ms. Hill has a gift of hooking the reader and not letting go until the very last word. And even then, there was a description of Family Secrets (the first book in the series). It's now on my HAVE TO BUY list. So let me just leave you with this one suggestion. You really want to go out and buy this book. It's a 114 page book that is filled with every emotion you can think of. You won't want to miss this one. Ms. Hill is an author to watch.

Barbary Point by Alan Nayes

Having come from a similar situation with my own father, this touching novella really hit home with me. I felt I could relate to it in a way that I can't relate to most books I read. Kelly has felt one way about her father all her life and if afforded the opportunity to experience a new outlook on who her father really was. Solid characters and an intricately wound love story will leave you wishing this book had been longer. Mr. Nayes writes with intellectual flair that leaves you wanting to read more.

Barbary Point was a breath of fresh air. In this fast paced life I live in, I love to read to escape and Barbary Point was worth every minute I spent reading. I felt as though I could slow down and enjoy the story. I know nothing of fishing but left this story with a little bit of knowledge and a great appreciation for the life of a fisherman. I would have to say that this book evokes similar emotions to any of the Nicholas Sparks Books.

To Mr. Nayes I would like to say, this book was a job well done. It's evident that you researched the location of the book very well. I thoroughly enjoyed reading Kelly's story and I look forward to reading more of your work in the future.

As I sit here and write this review, all I can say is WOW! This is one heck of an exciting, edge of your seat read! Nowhere to Hide had EVERYTHING you could want in a suspenseful thriller. The character development in this book is unreal. Each character complemented the other perfectly and the plot line was exquisitely written. I was actually holding my breath long before the ending. My mind kept trying to figure out which direction the plot might go. Ms. Hovey has done an incredible job of getting into the mind of a serial killer. The descriptions of the serial killer and the twisted way his mind worked kept me turning the pages as fast as I possibly could. This book was 156 pages jam packed with action, adventure and every emotion imaginable to man. If you haven't gotten this book yet, I highly suggest you do. You will not be disappointed as this is one of the best thrillers I have read yet.

Review:

Paige is one hardcore woman when it comes to self defense and I loved that about her. Her spirit could not be broken no matter what happened in her past. She was feisty, defiant and a "take no crap" kind of woman. When five Super-Op men are assigned to Paige, she doesn't like it one bit. Well, maybe she likes it just a little bit, after all they are all drop dead gorgeous! Paige doesn't take lightly the fact that she is being bossed around in her own B&B and lets these five bad boys know it! But there is just something compelling about Paige that each one falls for. A challenge each one is ready to meet. But trust is an issue they all deal with and it's interesting at the turn of events throughout this book. The sexual tension between Paige and the men will at times have you laughing and the rest of the time leave you breathless. Readers, turn the A/C on, this book is insanely hot.

I loved the plot line in Breakfast by the Sea. I always love the mercenary kind of books that are filled with intrigue and a lot of action. Suspense is definitely my cup of tea and when you add the erotic element to it, it's a must have in my book. The one thing I really enjoyed seeing in this book is it's not necessarily the happily ever after you would think. I'm not giving away any of the story but trust me when I say, it will surprise you in the end.

The one thing I can say that is always a given with any Destiny Blaine book, is that she writes about characters that are less than perfect. And my promise to you is you will love every minute of it. Just when you think a character could in no way, shape or form redeem themselves, Ms. Blaine gives you a sneak into the reasons why they act the way they do. You end up falling in love with the character and the bonds he/she form along the way. The characters in this book are solid and realistic. The sexual scenes are very descriptive and sizzling hot. This is definitely one book that you don't want to miss. For fans of suspense and the erotic, this is a must read.
